As of May 2014, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection has been discontinued, making online play no longer possible. Mario Kart DS supports both single pak and multi-pak gameplay via DS Download Play, and is the first Mario title to support Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, allowing players to race against opponents by using online services across the world.

You have to get to the end of each level and defeat the boss in order to keep moving forward in the story, which isn't at all easy. The gameplay is the one everybody knows, identical to that of Ghost'n Goblins.
